Adult Aikido

In the Adult Aikido Program at Kenosha Aikikai, there are students ranging across all ages and backgrounds. Some come for the self-defense aspect, some for the health and exercise benefits. Or perhaps the social/community activism, the ethical philosophy of the art, the spiritual dimension, or simply for the pure enjoyment of the harmonious movement itself. Most often it is a combination of these and perhaps more. The common element is that all are welcome - and all are encouraged and supported by the dojo to put forth their best and most sincere effort. They may find that what they put into it, they receive many times over - in return.

Everyone trains and progresses at their own pace. Beginners are gently paired with various experienced students who introduce them to Aikido on a one-on-one basis - under the supervision of the class instructor. Partners are rotated within each class ensuring a well rounded experience.

The path of Aikido is not without its challenges. But it is the quality of how we greet these challenges that defines our growth - not just as Aikido practitioners, but as human beings as well.  At Kenosha Aikikai we travel this path together, encouraging and supporting each other along the way.

Kenosha Aikikai is affiliated with, and accredited by, its parent organization, the United States Aikido Federation (USAF).

The USAF is a not-for-profit organization (501-C3), providing both technical and administrative guidance and support to its members. The USAF not only oversees the practice of Aikido and its instruction as established by Hombu Dojo, the international headquarters in Japan, but also develops and maintains rigorous technical standards, while advancing and promoting the practice of Aikido through various activities.

The USAF registers Dan grades (black belts) directly with Hombu headquarters, while additionally standardizing all ranking requirements consistent with Hombu's international regulations.

Since its inception in 2001, the Kenosha Aikikai Dojo has been a member in good standing with the USAF.
